Our Bishop

Bishop Mark Kevin Reid

Bishop Mark Kevin Reid, resides in W. Berlin NJ, is a man who has serves the Lord and cares about the people of God.  He has been a product of the Church of God in Christ all his life.  He was a faithful member throughout the years of the First Jurisdiction.  Even in his youth you could find him around the jurisdiction, helping his mother, Susie Mae Reid and his father, Superintendent Elijah Reid.  His love for the church has been evident all his life. Because of his faithfulness, he is presently the “Bishop” of The First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of New Jersey. God has blessed him in the elevation for such a time as this.

He is also the Pastor of Greater Mt. Carmel Church of God in Christ at 250 Chestnut Ave., West Berlin, NJ. He has held this position for the last 25 years. He was the assistant pastor to his father, Superintendent Elijah A. Reid for 12 years until being passed the baton. He is a third generation COGIC member following closely in the footsteps of his father. God has blessed him to have a progressive church that has flourished under the anointing of God. He has efficiently and effectively managed the church to exceed and continually bring souls to Christ. Bishop Reid is still the Superintendent of the E. A. Reid Memorial District, a position he has held for the past 13 years.  Bishop Mark Kevin Reid, was the Jurisdictional Secretary of N.J. First Jurisdiction and the Executive Assistant to Bishop Emeritus Martin L. Johnson, for the past 25 years.

Bishop Mark Reid graduated with honors from Rutgers University earning a BA degree in Education & Art. He attended Philadelphia Bible College and Grace Bible Institute and Theological Seminary. He has over 46 years of leadership experience in religious and administrative roles. He has consistently been effective in elevating church operations and community engagement within the church and outside of the walls of the church. His vision extends to enhancing organizational effectiveness and fostering spiritual growth. He has a passion for people within the church and in the community. He is presently a Councilman for the Township of Berlin in the State of New Jersey.  He is the husband of Evangelist Carolyn Reid, married for 46 years. The father of two daughters, Joy Monique Larae and Eboni Carol and one son Mark Alexander Martin Chandler. He is the grandfather of two granddaughters, Larae' Joy and Elysia Carol, and two grandsons, Amiri Michael and Jeremiah Tobias. 

His greatest hope is that God will be pleased in all that he does. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
